We all remember the attack on U.S. soil September 11, 2001. Almost every person can remember exactly what they were doing and where they were when those planes hit the twin towers of New York. I do. I was doing dishes after sending my children off to school and received a phone call to turn on the news. We kept the television on for days watching the events unfold and feeling like many other Americans…helpless.
Over the 12 years since the attack, our nation has been watching our military fight desperately for our safety and freedom. We have felt the sting of those lost in these battles. Patriotism has been almost non-existent since the attacks as most people feel they have to “go with the flow” and have no say.
September 11, 2013, brought about a different attitude across the nation. Bikers from across the country decided to gather together to show the world that we have not forgotten the attacks or lives lost. The display was heartfelt and overwhelming. We couldn’t participate in the event, but we watched all posts online and were brought to tears several times as 1.2 million patriots rode into Washington D.C. to protest the Muslims at the scheduled Million Muslim March. This country was on its feet Wednesday, September 11, 2013, and pride was beginning to show again. There was a feeling of hope in the air for peace and more American flags were flying. This was the best display of patriotism I have ever seen, and I am so proud to be an American. Thank you Bill Williamson, Belinda Bee and John Mullins for coordinating this fantastic event. Let your pride shine.
